Was There Healing In His Wings?

“Then a woman, who was ill with a flow of blood for twelve years, came behind Him and touched the hem of His garment. For she said within herself, 'If I may just touch His garment, I shall be healed.' But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her, He said, 'Daughter, be of good comfort. Your faith has made you well.' And the woman was made well instantly." (Matt. 9:20-22).

In ancient Israel, a prayer shawl (or tallit) was worn by the Rabbis (the teachers of the Law). The fringe or hem of the prayer shawl was called the “wings” (in Hebrew: “kanaph”)

Four hundred years before the time of Christ, the prophet Malachi wrote:
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…” – Malachi 4:2

Was There Healing In His Wings?

Did she fear the LORD of scripture
When she reached for Him that day?
Was the curse within her lifted?
Did her faith reveal  The Way?

Did she listen to the Rabbis
When the readings had begun?
Was the Seed within her scattered1?
Was the night chased by the Sun?

Did she come to faith by hearing2?
Had she trusted what she heard?
Did the prophecy deliver?
Was she made clean by The Word3?
Did she think… “The Son of David!”…
When this Teacher passed her by?
When she moved in close to touch Him
Did she ponder Malachi?

Did the true Truth dawn within her
When she brushed his “healing wing”?
Was True Life that day born in  her
Through this Prophet, Priest, and King?

“And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent word to all the surrounding country and brought to Him all who were sick, and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well" (Matt. 14:35-36).
