The first century church was born into a pagan (Roman) world /culture where the sexual appetites of the stronger and more powerful enjoyed “free reign”.

Nancy Pearcey, in her book “Love Thy Body…”, observes that in the contemporary western world…"[C]ritics argue that the Christian church must change its sexual morality or risk being left behind—being ‘on the wrong side of history’. But history proves the exact opposite. The church’s sexual morality is one reason it grew so explosively in the early centuries, especially among women….The early church may have been 'on the wrong side of history’. But that’s why it changed history."

Sadly, the Contemporary Church Somnambulant has foolishly believed that by blending in… “nicely”… and compromising with the ways of the pagan culture surrounding it, that the world ( the flesh and the devil) would somehow see the light, cooperate benignly, and back off politely.

Instead, several generations of theological sleep-walking finds us today backing dumbly deeper and deeper into the quagmire of the pagan past.
And some, even within the professing church, proudly call it “progress”.

Our recent headlines help confirm the reality that we have met the enemy, and he is us.
