Just a Bad Good in the Market
"When you refuse to teach on the radical depravity of men, it is an impossibility that you bring glory to God, His Christ, and His cross, because the cross of Jesus Christ and the glory thereof is most magnified when it's placed in front of the backdrop of our depravity."
—Paul Washer
"I see abortion as the ultimate act of bullying. It's just bigger and stronger people tormenting and killing those who are weaker and smaller, usually for no other reason than that they're in the way of something we want, or they're just plain inconvenient. This is a tragedy, and it needs to stop."
—Clinton Wilcox
I read a story recently about a famous, wealthy woman who had contracted with another woman to carry and deliver a baby for her. According to the article, there was a medical “issue” with the child in utero. It was not a life-threatening issue, but an issue, nevertheless.
Apparently, when the consumer/employer- "Mom" learned about the problem, she voided the contract with the surrogate employee, washed her hands of the inconvenient situation and walked away as if she had simply returned a Joe DiMaggio coffee maker to the Wal-Mart customer service desk for a full refund.
Welcome to the land of progressive, Utopiate Materialism where matter’s all that matters, where truth is suppressed, and the consumer’s satisfaction is always guaranteed.
In a word….”idolatry”.
Just a Bad Good in the Market
There’s no reason for alarm here,
‘Cause it’s not a human yet,
Not a person, not a baby,
Therefore, no need for regret.
Just a bad luck malformation,
(Faulty products do occur…)
Fetal object for disposal,
Just a reject … as it were.
Just a purchase not worth keeping,
Just a bit of damaged goods,
Just a bad good in the market…
Where ”Me-First” trumps ought and should.
Look, it’s just the way things are, ma’am,
It’s Post-Modern “progress” now…
It’s the Secular Agenda,
Liberalism’s Sacred Cow.
What’s “humane” is re-imagined,
There’s no child here, after all.
There’s no “sin”…no need for sorrow,
Since, of course, there was no “Fall”.
Father, please, have mercy on us,
Help us recognize our Sin…
Help us fathom this condition,1
Help us see the mess we’re in.
Call us out from senseless darkness
That (like fools) we’re calling “light”.2
Rescue us from this delusion
Where what’s wrong we’re calling “right”.
Father, find us here in hiding3
Please expose the lie with Truth…
Grant us honesty and Grace, Lord,
Show us we’re without excuse4.
“ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse; for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools…. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct. They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them but approve those who practice them.” (Romans 1: 18….32)
Help us wonder, Lord, at Calv’ry
And there fall upon our knees…
Strip away this Pride of Adam,
Wash away the soul’s disease5.
