Bowing Low To Our Libido

As I write these words today (January 22, 2013), many are ”celebrating” the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v Wade decision. Since that fateful day, an estimated fifty-five million souls have been denied the choice to live. Since the legal ratification of the opening of Pandora’s Box forty years ago, fifty-five million tiny image bearers of God have died…government sanctioned, government approved....all in the name of freedom.

Since that time in 1973, the limits to “abortion rights” have been expanded. The” wisdom” of the Woodstock Generation has become the nation’s standard fare and fodder. The ethical and moral “Acid Reign” has eaten away the moral foundation of our society. Today our culture receives its moral instruction not from Holy Scripture, but instead from Hollywood and Harvard. The high places of Topheth* are very high indeed.

The nation’s conscience has been effectively seared.

If it feels good, we say “Do it!”
It’s the Woodstock Way, my friend.
Hedonism has its merits,
We’re progressive to The End.

We embrace the Sensate Culture…
We fought hard for these delights!
To the barricades we’re marching!
To abort’s a human right!

Just ignore that ancient teaching,
Sacred Law?...Set that aside.
Bowing low to our Libido,
In the flesh we now abide.

Life’s too precious to be squandered.
We believe in feeling good!
What else is there?…(I mean really!?)
What we please erases should.

Now the fires of lust are kindled,
Sons and daughters there consumed.
Right and wrong ? No more an issue.
For Jehovah no more room.

We’re the seared and liberated,
We’ve removed the bound’ry stones.
We’ve dismissed the Ten Commandments,
There’s not much we don’t condone.

Roe v Wade has now released us
From three thousand years of chains!
We’re quite done with feeling ‘guilty’…
We’re The Boss now…We will reign!

Father God, can you forgive us!?
Sin has left our conscience numb…
May those tiny sacrifices
Help us find the Cross…your Son.
