There’s No Warmth Around This Campfire

In his essay, “The Glamour of Atheism”, Christian apologist Cameron McAllister lays out the undeniable and inescapable end game of atheism and the atheistic worldview:

“What is the chief appeal of atheism? In a word, death. This story begins and ends with nothingness. Carbon-based life is a brief reprieve between two absolute abysses. We have our minute sliver of time on this minute patch of existence, both of which will be swallowed by oblivion in the long run. Seen in this light, suicide…..is the most potent and naked expression of human free will on display, a great cosmic revolt against the material upheavals that accidentally produced us in the first place.

“This is why atheism is a zero-sum game, a philosophy of death that can offer nothing but death. This is why the rising tide of secularism in the Western world is fostering an indefatigable culture of death. Forged in a crucible of nothingness, we wander as cosmic orphans back to the yawning void from which we were so tragically ejected. In such a stark context, anything more than death, or on the side of life, or even minimally optimistic must be regarded with either pity or callous derision because it is obviously deluded, naïve, or dishonest.”
—Cameron McAllister (“The Glamour of Atheism”)

There’s No Warmth Around This Campfire

Abyss “A” is in the past now…
Abyss “B” is just ahead.
Son, oblivion is coming…
(Otherwise that’s known as “Dead”.)

There’s no Hope now for the future.

There’s no light, boy, in this Dark.
There’s no warmth around this campfire.
No not even, son, a spark.

There’s no meaning here about us,
There’s no purpose or design.
There’s no “god” out there to save us,
And that’s just the bottom line.

We’ve got “Nothing” here to offer.
And we’re really quite sincere….
It’s the Common Core we’re preaching,
And The End is drawing near.

There is Nothing….Nothing REALLY.
And there’s no place left to hide.
That’s the gospel truth we’re pushing….
HA!...So, why not suicide?

If you’ve not done so already,
There’s a Good Book you should read.
There’s a Now called Life Eternal,
And His Word you ought to heed.

If you turn there, you’ll see Jesus.
He’s the Word1 you shouldn’t miss.
He appeared to chase the darkness2,
(He just laughed at The Abyss.)

1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome] it.”
—John 1: 1-5

2 “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’"
—John 8:12
