You Can Hear the New Age Braying

Someone once suggested that the only sin left in this contemporary, “progressive” age of western civilization is believing that there is such a thing as “sin” at all. The mention of moral absolutes, it seems, is forbidden…perhaps absolutely forbidden. The very idea that human beings are created in the “image of God” is today considered blasphemous in some quarters. And the idea that we humans are at moral odds with our Creator is blasphemy on steroids….a Humanist heresy of the first magnitude.

Here in contemporary DarwinLand, biblical underpinnings have been ungraciously “retired” and put out to pasture. They have been essentially erased by the proud proclamations of the more highly evolved,…the worldly wise among us.

Christian theologian and apologist Ravi Zacharias has noted that, “Religion is the essence of culture. Culture is the dress of religion.”

The current departure from the time-tested “ancient paths” of Judeo-Christian tradition (primarily the now fashionable idea that “sin” is a concept that “progressive”’ modern man has outgrown), has spawned an unprecedented unravelling of the fabric of western civilization. We are systematically being stripped of our Judeo-Christian spiritual memory. The cultural rending continues at an accelerating rate.

We are, consequently, leaving our children and grandchildren a spiritual legacy in tatters.

As writer/journalist Andree Seu Peterson has observed:

“Things are accelerating now, like a snowball down a mountain. Not just Christians saying that, but everyone. The godless exult in it, of course, like the bad boys brought by Honest John to Pleasure Island, given permission to drink and smoke and wreck the place and do all the things good little boys don’t. They do not see that it’s a trap, and that after they make jackasses of themselves they become real jackasses, sprouting donkey ears and losing their humanity.”

Reminds me of something I read recently:

“But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you. With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed—an accursed brood! They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bezer, who loved the wages of wickedness.”- 2Peter 2:12-15

Western Culture’s suicide.

Climb aboard the downhill snowball,
Join the ”Liberated Caste” !

Come carouse here in the daylight,
There’s no need to be ashamed …
Join the godless “Bad Boy Chorus”
We’re the Proud, the Great Untamed.

It’s an orgy for the senses!
DarwinLand!…Come twist and shout!
Stroll the midway…Be Progressive!
Hear the barker: “Flesh it out!”

Come enjoy this Magik Kingdom,
Animalia one and all!
Revel in your Selfish pleasures …
Follow us!... Deny the Fall.

No more Moral Laws to follow,
We just found them too obscene.
So, relax, enjoy the train wreck…
Jeremiah, six- fifteen. …

Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct?
No, they have no shame at all;

“Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.
But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”
—Jeremiah 6:15,16…

Lord, we are no longer blushing,
Give us Grace to see our sin!
Give us eyes to see what’s needed….
Help us see the state we’re in!

Father, please…Can you forgive us?
Help us hear the Word you sent.
Give us Faith then to believe You…
And then more Grace to repent.

Calv’ry teaches how You love us,
Draw us to You through the Lamb…
Help us see the sinless servant,
Help us see the true I AM.
