Today, it has become fashionable to think of “truth” (or Truth) as some untouchable, inaccessible…even dangerous… concept. In this “post-modern” era, declaring something as outrageous and audacious as, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free1”, is fast becoming an open invitation to scorn, ridicule, and hostility. Such brazen statements, we are told, are unacceptable and ought not to be tolerated in today’s open-minded and polite society where everyone has the right not to be offended. “Truth”, it seems, is fast becoming this era’s most egregiously “dirty” word. It is a concept that is simply too hard-edged and too offensive for our delicate 21st century ears to be expected to endure.
Claiming to believe that true truth exists is bad enough, but claiming actually to know that truth is fast becoming the world’s most unforgivable sin.

Can't Quite Put Our Finger On It
“Truth”’s elusive, soft and squishy,
Friend, it changes over time…
It’s a constant moving target,
With no Reason, neither rhyme.
Just like waves upon the ocean,
Always tossing to and fro2….
”Truth”’s a never-ending Question,
It's not something we can know!
“Truth”’s a wispy, foggy phantom,
More like Jell-O than a Rock,
Yes, it jiggles, then it changes
With each tick of histr’ys clock.
We can’t put our finger on it…
It’s not something we can do,
“Truth”’s not tangible or solid,
No one REALLY has a clue!
It’s the sound of “one hand clapping”,
Neither here and neither there,
That’s the “good news” we believe in…
In this kingdom of the air.
“Truth” goes in and out with fashion
Then completely disappears,
Dead and buried, man, we tell you!
We’re quite sure…We’re crystal clear!
Ahhhh…. be careful, friend,…be wary.
You may find Truth resurrects!
Doubting Thomas, look again, sir,
Finger here, please, to inspect….

Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
