Pride’s a Willful Repro-Baiter

The Bible teaches that the human heart is extravagantly prideful, blind, and steeped in self-deception. No exceptions.

Sadly, this truth is made most evident every time a feel-good, “All you need is love”- message is preached from countless “liberated” pulpits across the land.

C.S Lewis amplifies this point:

C.S. Lewis

[Pride]…”There is no fault that makes a man more unpopular, and no fault which we are more unconscious of in ourselves. And the more we have it ourselves, the more we dislike it in others….Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind”
—C.S. Lewis

and…..

"Christianity now has to preach the diagnosis—-in itself very bad news—-before it can win the hearing for the cure."
—CS Lewis

Pride’s a Willful Repro-Baiter

Pride’s insidious incursion
Mocks the light of Good and True.
Pride’s a willful repro-baiter,
And it’s stalking me and you.

It’s a down and dirty secret,
Spirit cancer of the soul…
Leprosy left undetected.
Fatal flaw that cracks the mold.

It’s an idol instigator,
It’s the darkness making fools.
It’s The Fall mankind’s denying,
Now the mortal wound that rules.

Pride’s the fault line ‘neath the surface,
It’s the devastating quake.
Predecessor of destruction1,
It’s a finger-pointing snake.

It’s the root of every evil,
And it’s buried deep within.
Heart disease and silent killer…
Once we recognized as “Sin”.

It’s the Light there’s no escaping,
The grave-truth that we won't face2….
It's the deadly bad news needed3
To know God’s Amazing Grace.

Yes, behold!...Divine forebearance4...
See Him!...Touch Him passing by....
“Son of David! Lord, have mercy!”
Beggars blind,,,the sinners cry.

“As he drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this meant. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” And he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
—Luke 18: 35-38

"But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins."
