In our culture today, all things are in rapid, constant flux. There seems to be only one thing left that is “for certain”… and that one thing is UN-certainty.
We have declared boundaries and borders “Verboten!”. We no longer have any use for moral restraints or guardrails. Traditional standards and “plumb lines” are scoffed at and mocked.
We are heedless…and proudly so.
Relativism reigns supreme,….and we blindly call it “progress”.
But, of course, it is nothing new…… (see Isaiah 30:8-10 for details)
Cultural commentator and columnist, Cal Thomas, describes the situation well….
"There is no longer any cultural corrective because we have abandoned the concept of objective truth. Nothing is right or wrong, because that suggests a standard by which right and wrong might be defined. Personal choice is the new ‘standard,’ which is no standard at all. One might as well develop individual weights and measures."

What is “Good”?...What’s truly “Righteous”?
Is this something etched in stone?
Does it change with each consensus?
Can’t we just devise our own1?
Is there such a thing as “Holy”?
How about objective “Truth”?
Should we boot them out of office
From our Safe Place voting booth?
Is there such a thing as “Moral”?
If there is, how could we know?
Are these things, my friend, subjective?
Do these mirrors have to go?
Is there really “dark” and “light”, man?
Can we “tweet” them both away?
Can’t we simply just ignore them
Hunkered down in Fogs of Gray?
Can’t we, friend, be just “pragmatic”?
Can’t we all just compromise?
Do we really need “Commandments”?
Can’t The Real just be revised?

Lord, the light is getting dimmer…
We’re now wandering and lost.
Take us back to Holy Sinai,
And from there point to The Cross.

"Vulgar relativism is an invisible gas, odorless, deadly, that is now polluting every free society on earth. It is a gas that attacks the central nervous system of moral striving. The most perilous threat to the free society today is, therefore, neither political nor economic. It is the poisonous, corrupting culture of relativism..." —Michael Novak
