“The man who does not know the nature of the Law cannot know the nature of sin. And he who does not know the nature of sin cannot know the nature of the Savior”.—John Bunyon
There's "no sin", and that's our Dogma.
"Sin" is off our radar screen.
Saying "sin" is now a No-No...
Saying "sin" is simply mean.
It's The Law now:.....No more sin-talk!
Thou Shalt Not ..(that's all she wrote!)
We consulted higher critics...
After that we took a vote.
Talk of sin is just distasteful.
It brings everybody down.
It makes folks so "poor in spirit"1,
Mournful2, sad, and full of frowns.
Sin-talk’s just too doggone painful…
Something we can ill-afford!
It’s uncalled for AND it's hurtful...
(Like a double-edged sword3.)
All our therapists agree, son.
“Sin-talk” isn’t very nice!
It is simply not productive.
Sin-talk MUST be sacrificed!
So, we thought it best to ban it...
Just eliminate the thought!
Now we've got ourselves a "safe place"...
(Isn't that what Jesus taught?)
Give us true light in this darkness…
Father,sow the seed within.
Help us hear the one true Gospel4…
Grace, Lord, to be born again.
We’ve exchanged true Revelation
For this Theologic Goo.
Lord, forgive us!...We acknowledge
We have turned our back on You.
"A great deal of the theological impotence of our generation can be traced to what our ancestors would have called a severely deficient sense of the horrible sinfulness of sin."
—Donald Williams
