In light of the recently released findings regarding the torture of certain terrorist POWs (and the predictable partisan consternation that ensued after its release), it seems to me that there is a “root” cause and underlying moral issue that is being left… quite glaringly… unaddressed.
Where is Nathan1 when you need him?
Where is Jeremiah?
“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)
Some blind eyes are made for turning,
And some tortures House-approved,
Yes, some murders celebrated,
Millions more each year excused.
Some TRUE innocents found guilty….
Helpless ones who pay the price,
Still, we vote in men and women,
Who then vote… “Child Sacrifice!”
It’s deception at its finest,
It’s the way the devil plays.
It’s beyond, sir, simply wicked…
It’s the way the devil preys2.
It’s the Garden Game of Satan,
Adam’s gift to modern man,
Nothing’s new here under heaven,
We’ve no lack of bloody hands.
Sixty million tiny fingers
Pointing at us all today…
It’s the Truth we keep avoiding
On our broad, self-righteous way.
We’re the terrorists among us,
Yet we hardly bat an eye…
Truth we find too disconcerting…
Truth we choose to “Crucify!”
We’re the terrorists among us,
Claiming always “It’s not ME!”
That’s our stock default position…
Lacking "only" honesty.
We're the terrorists among us,
Tortured logic is our game...
Watch us wash our hands with Pilate3,
To dispel our guilt and shame.
Hearts of stone, we keep pretending
What we're doing isn't seen
By a Holy God of Justice,
Who alone might make us clean....
Some hypocrisies lie hidden,
Willful lies, left unexposed...
Condemn Nation...Sin among us,
First denied,.... (And so it grows....)
Lord, remove this darkness in us,
Father, touch us once again...
May we mourn4 here at the Cross, LORD,
Help us see our sin within.
Help us see the deadly this Pride, Lord,
And confess it in this place…
Lord, have mercy! …Please forgive us!
(Blood of Christ...Amazing Grace...)
Give us grace to read about it…
(Romans three ,verse twenty-one...)
Don’t allow us to pass over,
Father, WHY we need the Son!5
" But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus."—Romans 3: 21-26
